CHRISTMAS 2018: SIDE DISHES
(incl. Breakfast.  Plus Vegetables, Spreads, Salads, Breads/Buns)

Side dishes for Christmas dinner can be awkward for the Chief Chef & Organiser.

Stuffing, sprouts, cranberry sauce & roasties are a given but everyone likes a little variety now and again (apart from roasties!)   And coming up with a 'twist' - something a little different but not too different - isn't always easy.

67 is here to help.  These 4 new side dishes with either unusual flavours, textures or treatment will delight diners:

Rice Stuffing, Asian Style: carnivore with vegan opt; utterly sensational

VEGAN:
Oven-roasted Sprouts, Parsnips & Baby Corn: perfect consistency

Trio of Single Vegetable Salads:radish or cucumber or lettuce; fast, feisty, frugal

Cranberry Sauce with Cinnamon & Orange: lower sugar,  kid-friendly

2018's popular Side Dishes

VEGETABLES

Green Beans with Dill & Mustard: the absolute best from Ina Garden

Wheat free Tabbouleh
Gluten-free crowd-pleaser, low-carb, utterly refreshing

Dill Pickles Faff-free: easy-peasy, ready in 3 days, Vegan, fat & carb free, low-preservative & cholesterol, low sugar & salt, make ahead; Portable.  And, by the way, they taste great!!

Pickled Vegetable Crudites: perfect for last minute-panics; only an hour's prep: crisp, crunchy & boldly flavoured; suitable all ages

SPREADS

Spicy Corn & Beetroot Salsastriking but delicious
pairing, low-cal, high fibre, healthy

Bacon Jam, one of the most popular
recipes this summer; an outrageous indulgence,
chock-a-block with bacon bits.   But not for those with blood pressure issues

Tomato Jam, worthy healthier alternative to Bacon Jam: sassy, low-salt with perfectly balanced sweet and sour.

SALADS

Low-carb Duet: Greens with Goddess Dressing plus  Carnival Tomatoes
Greens with Goddess Dressing: Almost Instant

Walnut Anchovy Chinese Leaf Salad: Truly madly wonderful; Vegan option

Stir Fried Harvest Veg: colourful & flavourful; just a few veg; really quick & easy

Low-carb Garlic & Ginger Noodles: vegan, triple duty, budget friendly; packs such a culinary punch no one will care it's vegan

BREADS/BUNS

All these recipes are super-easy but produce wonderful light breads.  Little  kneading is required; the dough rests in the fridge overnight.

Make-Ahead No-Knead Cinnamon Buns: '...the texture is slightly moist and somehow dreamy, like eating a delicious pillow, and the glazing is just WOW!' 14-yr-old taster

No-knead Olive or Onion Foccacia: golden crusted, soft & yielding: egg & butter free, wallet-friendly

Mini Garlic Rolls: tear & share; half the usual size for crowds, with extra garlic 'butter' for dipping; Easy-peasy

BREAKFAST

Banana Waffles: Another love-child of ripe bananas & batter; low sugar

Chocolate Flower Pancakes: so easy the kids can make it; butter free; prep night before

Hot Pineapple & Berry Fruit Salad: for a cold festive morning, with or without alcohol

No-bake Spelt & Nut Globby Granola: sweeter & crunchier than 67's usual - ultra yummy, ultra marvellous.  Option for oatmeal; prep in advance

Skinnier Instant Breakfast Biscuits: Mix and drop (no rolling or shaping); perfect for jam, cheeses, even Baps!
